The purpose of a Job Dictionary is to analyse individual tasks within nominated positions. Each task is analysed with regards to the physical demands, working environment, and tools and equipment utilised. A Job Dictionary may focus on (although is not restricted to) positions that are considered to be high risk of injury, due to characteristics such as repetitive activities or manual handling.  Job Dictionary can be set up for ongoing reference by the organisation for the purposes of recruitment; pre employment work fitness; RTW management; and OHS management. EMPACT Pty Ltd have a strategic relationship with 2cRisk, and are able to offer a full site of human health centric risk software solutions.

Functional Capacity Evaluation allows for objective analysis of an individual’s physical capabilities and limitations. It provides justifiable and detailed assessment findings, incorporating evidence-based practice into recommendations.

Functional Capacity Evaluation can be applied to the assessment of work capacity, Injury Management planning, Vocational Assessment, Activities of Daily Living assessment, and determination of damages.

This service undertakes ‘WorkHab’ Functional Capacity Evaluations which integrate Workplace Assessment findings.

Vocational Assessment allows for analysis of vocational options, including review of pre injury work and earning capacity, and potential for future employment.

The determination of vocational potential incorporates the identification of:

  • Functional capabilities
  • Employment skills
  • Education and training history
  • Job seeking knowledge and skills
  • Demographic indicators for labour force participation
  • Avocational skills and interests
  • Job market trends

The assessment process gives consideration to avocational activities. This allows for the determination of an individual’s interests so as to generate knowledge relating to a skills profile, thereby ensuring comprehensive analysis of vocational potential.

A level of consideration is also given to re-training options so as to explore maximisation of earning potential.

Vocational Assessment incorporates analysis of residual earning capacity. This includes a comparison of pre injury earnings to current earning capacity, with application of state and federal award structures. Assessment is also undertaken of enterprise agreements. This includes reference to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data.

Vocational Assessment provides for the determination of a job match which links an individual’s employment capacity to specific occupations, thus demonstrating realistic employment opportunities.

Activities of Daily Living Assessment analyses a client’s ability to actively engage in independent functioning in regards to:

  • Personal Activities of Daily Living (PADL)
  • Mobility
  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL)
  • Participation

Assessment recommendations reflect an analysis of previous and ongoing gratuitous service requirements. This includes assessment and recommendations pertaining to the reasonable and necessary nature of ongoing service provision – relating to medical and psychological intervention, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing services, domestic assistance, childcare assistance, transport support, and sexual surrogacy services.

Recommendations, costing’s, and justifications are provided in relation to assessed requirements for facilities and equipment.

Importantly, Activities of Daily Living Assessment facilitates the quantification of pecuniary loss since the time of injury, and the estimation of pecuniary loss going forward.

Activities of Daily Living Assessment may also be used to demonstrate functional capacity, support vocational decision making, or in Griffiths v Kerkemeyer / Sullivan vs Gordon  type claims.

Workplace Assessment involves analysis of the intrinsic and extrinsic components of work duties. It includes ergonomic assessment, that is, consideration of the interaction between individuals, machines, equipment, work methods, and the work environment.

Workplace/Ergonomic Assessment Components:

  • Workplace layout – giving consideration to the posture and position of the worker, work height, work load, and visual requirements.
  • Work organisation – giving consideration to work rates, rest breaks, job design, task variation, job rotation, and degree of employee autonomy.
  • Work design
  • Physical task requirements
  • Psychological task requirements – including review of factors such as boredom, concentration, and autonomy contributing to work performance
  • Review of Australian and New Zealand Standards in relation to industry and OHS requirements.
  • Advice on corrective action required so as to ameliorate risk and mitigate loss.

Work Capacity Assessment is an analysis of vocational potential including a comparison of pre and post injury earning capacity.

The determination of post injury earning capacity incorporates evidence derived from:

  • Review of functional capabilities, whether they are physical, psychological, sensory, respiratory, or illness related.
  • Analysis of the skills the claimant possesses, transferable to new employment.
  • Education and training history.
  • Job seeking knowledge and skills.
  • Demographic indicators for labour force participation.
  • Job market trends.

Work Capacity Assessment is also an analysis of residual earning capacity. It provides evidence of current award rates of pay, with application of state and federal award structures.

A primary reason why people experience distress in their workplace relates to their interpersonal skills, working relationships, and personal resilience. Dealing with only one of the parties seldom changes the situation. All parties need to work cohesively to create solutions that work towards a common goal of creating a better workplace. All of EMPACT Pty Ltd mediators are LEADR accredited.

Once we reach adulthood, our personalities remain relatively stable. However, our levels of resilience can vary considerably. Fortunately, everyone has the ability to build and maintain their levels of resilience. That’s why we created i-resilience! The i-resilience report and online resources are the first set of integrated resilience tools available that are completely free to use, both for you and your entire organisation. Using our validated personality questionnaire and based on the responses, the i-resilience report reveals which of the four key components users naturally draw on for resilience – confidence, adaptability, purposefulness and the need for social support.

i-resilience provides a comprehensive understanding of personal resilience and gives examples of how this could impact on users responses to demanding work situations. The personal i-resilience report allows users to build on existing areas of strength, and also allows them to manage any potential areas of risk. The i-resilience portal then allows users to develop their resilience in line with the results of their report.
